摘要：An electrolytic cell of the filter-press type which comprises plate-like anodes,cathodes, and gaskets of an electrically-insulating material, and an ion-exchangemembrane between each anode and adjacent cathode to form in the cell a plurality ofanode compartments and cathode compartments, the gaskets, and optionally theanodes and cathodes, each containing apertures therein which form headers from whichliquors may be charged to the anode and cathode compartments of the cell and to whichproducts of electrolysis may be removed from the anode and cathode compartments ofthe cell, and in which the gaskets, and optionally the anodes and cathodes, each comprisean aperture therein which together form a compartment lengthwise of the cell which is incommunication only with the anode compartments of the cell, or which is in
communication only with the cathode compartments of the cell, and which serves as abalancing header.
